A Nightmare on Elm Street

The classic horror movie, "A Nightmare on Elm Street", was recently re-done to a more modern movie. This movie has been a huge topic and it has been the spur of many conversations lately. The producers brought back a horror movie from a couple years back to a more new and improved movie. This movie is about a group of teenagers who are all stalked by Freddie Krueger. They all try to protect eachother and keep eachother safe.
Many people enjoyed the movie, but others thought that the originial movie was much better. "More 'inspired' by the 1984 classic than a straight carbon copy, this Nightmare makes the material its own and as a result becomes one of 2010's most unexpected delights," wrote Bill Bibron in a movie review. He liked the movie because he loves horrors, and he thought that it was great! He thinks that the movie is good for teens who want to get scared. He said that the it was one of the few re-imaged movies that actually succeeded. On the other hand, Michael Rechtshaffen wrote "...the back-to-the-beginning approach unimaginatively goes through the motions, offering scant justification for its boring existence, at least from an artistic point of view." He wasn't fund of the movie because he simply thought that a great movie like this could not have been re-made.
In the movie, there is a girl named Nancy that keeps having scary dreams about a man named Freddie Krueger. Her boyfriend got attacked and many of her friends got attacked and killed, so she was left with very little people. She tells her mom how she has been having scary dreams about meeting this man and him coming after her. Nancy began to do research about how her and all of her friends were related because they were all dying at the same time. Her mom told her that they all went to preschool together and there was a gardener named Fred Krueger. He hurt Nancy and all of her friends. Her mom tells her that Nancy was Fred's favorite, but Nancy didn't believe her and proeeded to find info about Krueger. He found out that she has been trying to get information abou thim and he started to try to find her and kill her too. He stalked her and tried murdering her, and that is as far as I am going to to go because otherwise I will ruin the end. I saw this movie with one of my friends and I personally liked it. I didn't watch much of it because I was too scared and was covering my eyes. In general the movie was very well done. I couldn't tell you whether or not I liked the first one better because I have never seen it. I'm sure it was better because it was the original.

Funny Movies

A funny new movie that has recently come out is called "The Backup Plan". This is a comedy starring Jennifer Lopez. The movie is about a women who has relationship problems, but is determined to be come a mother. She finds a guy named Stan and started seeing him. She then found out she was pregnant, which becomes the funny element of the movie. He keeps thinking that he should have at least been dating her for a long time before he got her pregnant. They stayed together at the end. I saw this movie and i recommend it to anyone that is in for a good movie!
Although I have not seen this movie, I have heard that "How To Train Your Dragon" is a wonderful movie for children! The movie is about tribes who fight dragons all the time. A teenage boy is in training to fight a dragon and he ends up liking the dragon a lot. I have heard there are many cute/emotional parts to this movie and it is a very good movie for younger children to watch.
Another movie that I have recently heard was very good is called "Date Night" starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey. It is a movie about a married couple who go on dates once a week. They started to realize that things aren't the same between them so they want to make things better. They strongly fear getting divorced because of their children. He decided to take her to Manhattan to the city's hottest new restaurant. They didn't have reservations so they pretend to be another couple that didn't show up. The other couple turned out to be wanted and chased by the cops, so by trying to save their lives- they also saved their marriage. It is a movie I would love to see because it seems very entertaining.
